Zirrie,it might be best if you don't talk to me for a bit - it seems to upset Jessie somewhat.
She got a feeling of understanding from her dragon, and Maurisa felt a surge of pride in her loving and caring green. The green decided to nap for a while, but keep an ear out for Hers, just in case. Zirith knew she could get Maurisa to tell her about this meeting later, so it was no skin off her teeth to be quiet for a while.
"She will honestly chase anyone that flies."
Maurisa grinned, undetered by Jessie's half-smile-half-frown.
"Well, it'll keep the 'lizards on their toes at least. Keep them out of trouble, too, if they have to evade Felix."
Jessie whistled, and the feline trotted over to them, winding through her mistress' legs, purring. Never really fond of felines, Maurisa nonetheless admired Felix, but didn't dare attempt petting - past experiences had taught her she had best wait for a feline to demand petting then to preempt their wishes.
"I'm thinking about breeding her, but it would mean more mouth's to feed."
Pausing to scratch her head and blot her eyes, she picked up her stirring-stick and got back to work before replying.
"Well, it can't hurt to have more felines - really make sure no tunnelsnake ever dares come near the stores. I'm not really sure about the current number of felines in the Weyr - I know whenever I go to the Lower Caverns, there are some always there, but I've never counted." She looked put out by not having this information readily to hand.
