The sooner that she Impressed the next Gold dragon the better. Kiara was far too important to be doing chores! She was leant back against a wall (After having checked that it wasn't going to mess up her clothes first) and inspecting her nails. One of them was a little brittle after all the cleaning she'd had to do so she'd have to keep an eye on it, make sure that it wasn't going to break. Broken nails were one of the worst things! That, and dirt under them. She'd just finished cleaning out the muck from under her nails and she didn't plan on having to do it any time soon.
She probably had other chores to do, but one of the young drudges had really taken a shine to her so all it had taken was a couple of bats of her eye lashes and a charming smile and he was 'helping' her. At least, that's what he believed he was doing. What he was actually doing was doing her chores for her, and any he missed Kiara had someone else do for her. Unless of course, she was caught and was made to do it under supervision. Still, she'd gotten very good at finding the easiest chores to be doing and making sure to be doing them whenever anyone was watching her. Candidacy! Bah! She was barely up from a drudge at the moment! Not that it mattered, she'd soon be the Weyrwoman of this sorry Weyr. And if it fell through, she'd be the Junior Weyrwoman somewhere else, up until she and her majestic Gold that would Impress to her, became the senior Weyrwoman. Yes, her future was all sorted out, that was for sure.
Kiara ran her slender fingers through her raven black hair and flicked it out to make sure that there was no dirt settled in it. At the sound of someone coming her emerald coloured eyes flashed and she delicately snatched up the broom leaning beside her and began to sweep the floor, her hold on the brush light enough so that she'd not callous her fingers with the hard wooden handle.

The dining area was almost empty, just a few slackers from lunch remained and one candidate picking up the dirty dishes. Caroline stacked the plates one on top of the other, klah mugs hanging from her fingers, some finding their way onto the plates even. Her honey blond hair was once again in a braid, but this time Cassie had done it, and had made sure Caro had taken an eraly morning bath.
"If you really want to be on even ground with Kiara, you have to start looking your best every minute of the day!
Caro had really wondered if she'd be able to do that while doing as much as she did, but apparently it was possible. Her silky hair simply shone with help now that Cassie had, had a go at her scalp. Nails still perfect for now, at least none were broken anymore. Cassie had seen to that. Really, where would Caro be without her friend? Heck, the younger had even managed to get Caro new workclothes and taken her old ones for repair! Where she got them, Caro didn't know, but she knew she liked them. She also knew she wouldn't be seeing her Gather dress, or old workclothes for a while.
Her new work clothes consisted of plain trousers that so kindly tucked into her well worn boots, though Cassie had gotten to those as well and made them seem new, a simple tight fitting shirt with sleeves ending just below her elbows, and over that a vest with her candidate not on the shoulder. A simple wherry-hide belt round her waist, keeping her trouser where they're supposed to be. Surprisingly, Cassie actually found a way to have Caro's work clothes be form fitting and still loose enough for the blond to be comfortable. Amazing what that girl could do. Speaking of Cassie, where was she? Probably down in the storage room with the Headwoman, checking their food. Caro rolled her light saphire eyes as she headed back to the kitchen, her new found confidence and lightness of heart allowing her body to get into her old graceful, dance like walk that many couldn't help but notice. Like certain drudges.
It was unerving really, because Caro wasn't Kiara, so she wasn't used to being stared at. Well she'd have to get used to it if she wanted that witch to be put in her place. Eyes growing cold as Caro toward the kitchen, plates and migs in hand, she spotted the very object that caused her recent transformation. Kiara. Sweeping. There was just something wrong with that picture. First of all, Kiara actually doing chores is wrong in and of itself because everyone in the Weyr knew she bribed the drudges. Second, she wasn't even doing it right, just pushing the dirt around. Third, it was just pitiful and irritating to watch her do that so she just didn't get in trouble. Thoroughly fed up with the 'queen' of the Weyr, Caro scoffed angrily, walked into the kitchen to put the plates and mugs in the sink for washing, which she planned to do after had a word with her furture Weyrwoman, and walked back into tunnel were Kiara was sweeping.
Stopping in front of the raven haired girl, Caro crossed her arms ever so tempted to snatch that broom from the girl's hands herself.
"You do realize you're doing it wrong, yes?" Caro stated, eyeing the clouds of dust traveling into the air. Really, even she had a light hold on the broom she was sending the top layer of dirt everywhere. "If you expect to be Weyrwoman Kiara, you're going to have to learn to do it right. Granted, you wouldn't be sweeping, but you'd be keeping charge of our food stocks with the Headwoman, making sure the Holds, or Hold right now, is tithing the proper amount, and various other things that you are proving here and now that you are very incompentent at. You won't just get to order people around to do it yourself."
Caro finished her sentence with a growl, saphire eyes flashing as she vaguely realized the two of them were truly opposites. Not just in personality, but looks too. Caro had light honey blond hair while Kiara had raven black hair. She had saphire eyes, Kiara emerald. Obviously they were near each other in height, Caro only two inches higher, but while Kiara walked with something of a swagger on purpose, while Caro has a natural grace. When she's not being a clutz like today. Both have a lighter complex, but Kiara's is just plain pale, Caro's pearl. It was interesting how they were similar and not similar, each vying for the queen in their own way. Kiara fr her own good, Caro to make sure Kiara doesn't get the position of Senior Weyrwoman and kill the Weyr with her stupidity. All this flashed through Caro's mind in mere seconds, her eyes showing much of what she though. Contemplating, then contempt.

Oh, so it was only her. As Caroline stepped in front of her, Kiara stopped her sweeping. No need to pretend in front of this drudge. Kiara found her daily amusement in Caroline. After all, she thought that she could Impress the queen that needed to be laid! She hadn't a snowflake's chance in the Igen desert of that happening. No, she'd be lucky even to end up with some good for nothing green. To be frank, even that was too much for the little blonde whore in Kiara's opinion. Then again, a green was about the same level as nothing in Kiara's books. So did it make that much of a difference?
she leaned casually on the brush, a thoroughly bored expression on her delicate face as she listened to Caro berating her. Berating her, the nerve of that girl! She sighed as Caroline finished, deciding that yawning was not befitting of someone like her. Far too commonplace. "Caroline, Caroline, Caroline," she purred in her dangerously silky voice. "You are, for once correct. I won't be sweeping as a weyrwoman, not even as a junior weyrwoman should this place fall apart. But, contrary to your beliefs I am more than capable of performing the required duties. Unlike you I was raised with some prestige, not in the dirt as a weyrbrat. You think that a Trader would be unable to manage tithings and supplies? You really are foolish aren't you," she cooed condescendingly. "Also, people will do as they are told, when they are told. You seem to forget this. My duties will be much up and above those that you will be given. After all, who would want someone such as yourself anywhere that you can be seen? People would be horrified." It was unfortunate for Caroline that Kiara was so quick to figure out which buttons to press in which order. If it made her feel any better, she wasn't Kiara's only victim. But as it was the wanna-be-load-holder's-daughter was fully aware of Caroline's lack of self-confidence.
Breaking off any eye contact Kiara paused in the conversation to inspect her hands and nails once more, flicking out a little piece of dirt from beneath a nail before going back to leaning on the brush and raising her emerald eyes once more to observe Caroline. "Did you let one of the weyrbrats at you today Caroline? Been playing fancy dress with them out of the old discarded clothes and then forgot to change?" she asked mockingly, mirth dancing quite happily in her eyes. Oh, i this young girl though she could tell her, Kiara, what to do she had another thing coming. You didn't cross Kiara, for she had an awfully mean streak in her. And what better way than to pound away at Caroline's weak spot?
