Dawn hadn't liked her sudden relocation to the kitchens one little bit. She'd complained bitterly to Shea ever since the removal of her clutch from the stables the day before, and still hadn't settled. It made him wonder if, had she been a green and not a gold, would she have forgotten by now? Part of him wished she would and just get on with watching the eggs, rather than moving them around once every hour in an attempt at getting them in the same arrangement that they were in the stables. Apparently she'd forgotten that, but was happy with no less. But however much she complained, she knew as well as Shea that the eggs were due to hatch soon - any time now, in fact. He'd taken the day off from his work at the stables to be here with them now. He'd transferred them over with the help of a bluerider and his dragon, for walking them up from the stables would have taken too long, and they would have gotten cold. The night before he'd posted up a notice at each entrance to the dining cavern and kitchen complex, where he knew most people would see it, warning the Weyrfolk to be ready if they wanted a chance at a new little friend. He'd even taken one down to the Infirmary, not wanting to miss out the riders who were injured, but still able to walk up to the dining caverns if they had good reason to. He'd left it to Aydrian to make sure everyone there knew, as he didn't want to disturb anyone by shouting it out unnecessarily. And now, all he could do was wait. Well, wait over a game of dragonpoker with the bluerider who had helped him over and a drudge, which he was quite definitely loosing. But even so the pair of them were engrossed in their game, and would have missed the first tremble had not Dawn squawked in alarm and then started to croon. He started, then looked from the clutch to the bluerider, finally exhaling gustily. "Right, I think we better get going! Could you get Osyrith to let everyone know please? I gotta fetch the meat bowls." He stood, retreating back into the kitchens, followed by the drudge. As he piled his arms full of bowls of ready chopped meat, he heard the voice of the riders blue echo in his mind, N'lan tells me to tell you that the Weyrherder says that the little cousins are starting to hatch, and to come quickly if you'd like one.He walked back into the dining cavern, smiling at the few people who were also hanging about in the dining cavern, several of whom had surreptitiously been watching him for the last candlemark or so, seemingly waiting for the signal that he had just given them to finally move closer. Of the rest, some smiled back, but were obviously disinterested in Impressing a flitt. Arriving back at the hearthfire where the eggs were warming, he plunked the pile of bowls on the table, hurriedly rescuing the top bowl which was threatening to tip its contents on the floor. Setting them all down from their piles, he looked around, seeing one or two new arrivals, and went to sit down by the eggs. The fire warmed his back as he looked intently at the eggs. Three or so were now trembling, and he knew that the others wouldn't be far behind. (OOC: Roll up, roll up! Get your characters in this thread for a chance at one of these little beauties. And don't forget to fill out the form here for your chance to have a say in what your character Impresses. If not and your character shows up here with no warning, I'll assume that you're down for anything ;D Have fun!)

Luna stretched her arms above her head. She had just finished her chores and was heading to the kitchens for a bite to eat. She was stopped in her tracks when she heard the unfamiliar voice of a blue dragon. She puzzled over what he said. It took her a minute to unravel the mess of a message he had sent out.
When she realized what he meant she hurried on to the kitchens. She smiled as she thought of the gold she had seen not so long ago. She felt sorry for Dawn, it probable wasn't fun having to move her eggs. When she entered the cavern she quickly spotted Shea at the back next the the hearth. Luna made her way through the tables and stopped next to her friend.
"Hey Shea, Hey Dawn." Luna then looked down at the eggs with a smile on her face. "Congratulations on them hatching." She then leaned over to pick up one of the bowls of meat and took her place near the eggs.

As soon as Surel heard that the flit eggs were hatching, he was pelting towards the kitchens. He had finished his chores no more than half a candle mark ago, and just in time it seemed. The thought of having one of the little creatures to take care of explore with, sent his legs pumping faster.
Perhaps a little to fast as his foot caught a table leg and he nearly went sprawling. Surel’s mass of curls bounced as he held his injured foot and hopped around.
“Ouch. Ouch. Ouch.” He glanced at the occupants of the tables. “Sorry.” He put his foot down and gave them a grin before darting off to the kitchen.
Slowing to a walk he swiped a bowl of meat and nodded to the few people already gathered and waiting.
“Hey.” He panted, before turning his eyes to the trembling eggs.

"Oh, lovely day! The skies are clear, the day is long, the people are-" a short pause, "well, everything is beautiful!"
Destry was walking around the Weyr with nowhere to go. Enjoying the sites, really, and getting used to the place. He'd only been here for a sevenday perhaps, and familiarizing himself with the halls and entrances of certain places was important. The earlier the better! The candidate had already been outside; wandering about the various areas. He was tempted to go to the Bowl and the stables, but alas, he became distracted by something else within the Weyr and ventured back inside without a thought. He'd have to go back and see what sort of critters Skyline held... "I'll save that adventure for another day. Can't do everything at once!"
Just as he was about to go back to his current room, an unfamiliar draconic voice popped into his mind. N'lan tells me to tell you that the Weyrherder says that the little cousins are starting to hatch, and to come quickly if you'd like one. The candidate blinked, his round honey eyes clouded with thought. As quickly as he could the young man turned on his heels, running down the corridors with a large grin plastered on his face. Flitters were hatching!
He'd seen the fliers hung up around the Weyr, and he'd of course burst into a fit of glee, proclaiming how wonderful and beautiful the new little ones would be. Thanks to his loud antics, he drew a bit of a crowd to the slip of paper. Only a few of them were really interested in the event, the others hung around to gawk. Still, Destry managed to find at least one face to laugh with and talk to about the miniature dragons that would soon be flying around their heads. He'd never known that their hatching would take place so soon though.
His entrance into the kitchen was a little less than loud as his boots skid across the floor, hands gripping one side of the doorway as he stared across the room, one hand dramatically flung across his chest as he caught his breath. Soon enough Destry righted himself and walked closer to the little eggs, stopping at a respectable distance away from the clutch and their mother. The Queen firelizard was lovely! She was a gold, the shade quite bright everywhere on her body besides her legs and wings it seemed. And oooh, those streaks! Dazzling. The smile among his features never faltered. Was it appropriate to bow before a flitter? She was a Queen, and he was here to try to Impress one of her clutch. It wouldn't do any harm.
After a small, curt bow to the pretty gold, Destry reached over and picked up one of the various bowls. He then took a moment to look over the others who were here to obtain a friend. There were quite a few of them, and he'd noticed that a boy and girl in particular had greeted the owner of the firelizard. Maybe he should do that as well!
"Your Queen, Dawn is it?, has a beautiful clutch!" he stated, trying to keep his voice a few notches quieter than it usually was.

Tighearnan had spent much of his day in the stables. One of the runners was ill and it had several of the beastcrafters on edge. The mare's belly was tender to the touch and she seemed to be bloated. Tighearnan had volunteered to walk the animal, worried that it might be a stomach problem that he'd seen kill a runner back at the Crafthall. Thankfully, the mare had began having regular bowl movements after a few candlemarks and the whole stable breathed a sigh of relief. He put the bay back in her stall and made a quick check on the rest of the beasts before making his way to the Dining Caverns.
He supposed he really should have made a stop by the bathing chambers first, as the smell of dung was quite pungent. But the hunger gnawing at his stomach was strong enough that he had to forego his worries of offending people with his stench. They would understand, right? Hopefully...well, no, they probably wouldn't. But he was so hungry! Maybe if he just made a quick stop in the kitchens for a snack, then he could go bathe and then return for a full meal.
But as Tighearnan poked his head into the kitchens, he caught sight of a cluster of people around one of the hearths. There were murmurs going through the small crowd and he caught mention of "firelizards". Was there a clutch hatching right now? He stepped full into the room and saw a couple people grab bowls of meat. Well, a firelizard would be nice. They could be such helpful creatures, what with their message delivery and whatnot. After a moment, he decided to step forward and grab a bowl himself, taking his place among the ring of anxiously waiting spectators.

"Luna! Good to see you again," Shea replied, jumping slightly at the sound of her voice. Dawn ignored her though fussing as she was around the eggs and nosing the ones that weren't yet trembling. "Well, at least I hope they'll hatch. Seems they're going to so far... oooh look!" he broke off, pointing excitedly at one of the eggs in the middle of the clutch. It was shaking more than the others, but had just then jerked mightily, causing Dawn to peep in surprise. The sharp movement had had the desired effect, however, the close side of the egg spiderwebbing and bulging out slightly. The cheep of triumph could almost be heard from inside the egg as the hatchling inside paused in his movements, before giving another mighty shove at the broken side. All at once a leg spilled out quickly followed by tail and body. The hatchling, half released, struggled, shattering the remains of his shell as he spread his wings wide. Really wide. But the flitter hadn't shattered just his own shell. In doing so, he had fallen onto the two eggs next to his, only one of which had shown any sign of movement until then. But as the shells of both cracked, a leg and tail flopped from the shell which hadn't been moving. They hung there for a moment, then twitched spasmodically. The pale green toes wiggled, as if experimenting in the open air. The first hatchling, however, peered at his shells, then up to the green's toes. His small jewell-like eyes whirled green, contrasting with his midnight blue hide. He was about to reach forward and sniff them, but at that moment the other egg who he'd knocked exploded in a shower of shards and goop, taking the blue completely by surprise. He screeched in time with his mother (for a shard hat hit Dawn on the nose) flinging out his overly large wings as if to protect himself from flying egg, only to swipe at the greens egg. This apparently finished the job he'd started earlier, for the shell crumbled, leaving its owner lying on her back in the debris. The blue hissed, taking off into the air, away from these crazy eggs! They were all out to get him, he was sure of it. Out to hurt him and steal his food. Food? Oh, he was hungry, he needed to eat now! He glanced about as he flitted about the room, oh there was so much more room than in his tiny egg! Oh, there was food! The blue made a circle of his chosen target, before diving into Luna's bowl, crooning his appreciation to her for bringing it for him! Shea laughed at the flitt's stunt, congratulating Luna before turning hi attention back to the waiting crowd. Whoa, it'd doubled in size! He really must pay attention more. He cast around for familiar faces (not that that mattered much to the WeyrHerder, for everyone was familiar with him). There was that curly haired candidate, then the dreamy one - oh, he was speaking! "Thankyou! You should tell her that once all this is over, she may actually listen then," he replied with a grin. Dawn paid the candidates no mind, her eggs were far more important! But then Shea spied someone he recognised from the stables. "Tighearnan! Great to see you here! Say, how's that mare doing, the one we thought might have colic?" he inquired. Not having been at the stables for much of the day, the mare had been on his mind, worrying him. He'd had to leave it up to someone else to keep an eye on her, and the candidate had shown an interest. As long as he didn;t try anything drastic Shea was more than happy to give the lad something to do. And by the smell of him he'd certainly been busy!
(How does everyone like this as a hatching post? It's my first so I'm sorry if it's a little chaotic, but I just wanted to ask if you liked this kinda style, 'cause this is like what I'd be doing in the dragon hatching) i35.tinypic.com/28atb8m.jpgColour: Blue (midnightblue - 000033) Impressed to: Luna Appearance: This blue is very dark in colour, a midnight blue that verges on black in places, such as along his back and the front edges of his wingsails, and on top of his head in a mask-like marking. But cutting through this haze are occasional streaks of off white, blazing across his hide in flashes akin to lightning. They are mostly concentrated around the backs of his wingsails, melding into an almost solid white along the tail-edge of said sails, though one particularly prominent stripe cuts from his left headknob all the way down his face to his nostrils, with another, smaller streak splitting off down to his right eye. Slightly less noticeable, however, are the small star-like patches that adorn his hide from head to toe, melding with his midnight blue hide as if they belong together. His wings are also abnormally large, about the size of an average browns wingspan, and are brown, even though he is of normal blue sizing. Personality: Big wings, big attitude, would describe this little flitter well. He’s got quite a short temper on him, especially where his human is concerned, for he is highly protective of her. He’ll more often than not lash out at anyone who even tries to touch her in his presence, and if not will flare out his impressive wings and hiss angrily. When not agitated though, he can be quite a sweetheart, and loves tickles from his human, but only when he is sure that those around him are friends.

Dusk lifted her head slightly from her two-toned forepaws as the dragon made an announcement. Not too high though, she didn't want to hit it. The basilisk didn't really care much as to what a little cousin was and she doubted that she wanted one of them. But there was of course, the possibility that she might do. Would it cause any harm to at least go and look? ...Yes, yes it would People really didn't like seeing her around. However, that most certainly wasn't going to stop her. If she wanted to go see whatever it was that was hatching, she'd darn well go and see. Yawning largely to reveal glittering sharp teeth, Dusk contemplated just how soon she wanted to leave. She soon settled on at that point in time. Didn't want to miss whatever was going on, that was for sure. She could be sure to tell R'fel all about it, seeing as he was still a little fuzzy from whatever they'd been making him drink. He'd told her it was supposed to help, and she trusted him at least.
Poking her head out from under the bed, Dusk checked the coast was clear. No one knew she was there, and it was staying that way. She ducked back under as a healer passed, then slid out from under her rider's infirmary bed and slunk into the shadows. She'd not be gone long. With surprising stealth for one so young, Dusk crept out of the infirmary and into a corridor. It didn't take long for her to hear where she needed to go. Kitchens. Well, she knew where they were! She'd been swiping food when no one was looking quite regularly now. Much easier than going out hunting after all.
Moving in the shadows, Dusk knew that no one had seen her as she approached the entrance to the kitchens. It would be slightly more difficult to remain out of sight in there, but most people seemed to be a lot more distracted by that noise. There was the sound of hissing and Dusk turned her attention to the rising form of a blue firelizard. Oh, so that's what little cousins were. Not that interesting then. Then her sensitive nostrils picked up on the smell of meat and she padded silently into the room, tail twitching in curiosity. It wasn't long before she'd located them up on the table, and then established in her mind that she wanted a snack. One of those would do nicely.
Putting her forepaws on the table, Dusk no longer cared if people saw her. She'd already spotted that Shea character but had at least refrained from hissing at him. He was not a favourite of hers. She had also come to the conclusion that she didn't like the hissing gold thing very much, mainly because it was Shea's though. So completely oblivious to the goings on around her, Dusk shoved her blue-purple snout into the nearest bowl and pulled it towards her. Her food now.
((Dusk is just here to cause trouble for the moment. ^^))

Both of his hands gripped the bowl with such force that he swore he could've heard it creak in despair. One was hatching! Bright eyes widened as they watched the egg shatter, revealing a deeply colored blue. Like his mother, his color seemed to fade out into darker shades along the points of his body. The poor thing was whirling this way and that, breaking or shifting everything his sails touched. Even the Queen was astounded! Then, a teensy green emerged from her prison, lying on her back like a helpless beetle. Cute! But as the blue took off into the air, Destry found his upper body reeling back a little in excitement, not even the shuddering of the other eggs tore his attention away. He couldn't contain himself. "Those wings!" he beamed, happily watching as the blue flopped into the girl's bowl of meat. "So large and powerful. Sheer brilliance."
"Congratulations." The candidate gave a nod to the girl, forcing himself not to squirm in delight. Beautiful creatures, beautiful world! Yes, coming to Skyline was a good thing after all. He faced the older man, Shea, to reply. "That's true. But hopefully when this is all over, I'll have a firelizard of my own to be worrying about!" With a laugh, he shrugged his shoulders and turned his focus to the next person the WeyrHerder spoke to.
Destry could smell the work on him, to say the least. The boy must really loved animals to have buried himself in such grubby conditions and come out smelling like some sort of unclean creature. Destry seemed to gleam like a proud bronze as he looked over Tighearnan, even though he had to waft his hand in front of his face to try and keep the odor away. Such beauty in his passion for animals! He'd have to try to get to know him later, if possible. They would have the grandest of conversations about animals! And if he was a dragon candidate, why, that would be even better.
But wasn't Shea an animal enthusiast as well? He couldn't say he knew the man well, but he could've sworn he heard the title WeyrHerder tacked onto his name. If so, then he'd have to get to know him better too.
A serene feeling passed over him as he watched the various things around him. Luna, the lucky girl who'd Impressed to a blue, the little green who was rolling around in the nest, the motherly Queen as she watched over her eggs. And of course, the unhatched flitters sitting in their shells. Truthfully, the blue flit reminded him of the Benden blue who'd searched him. But those were memories of the past, and this was the present. That was much more important at the moment.
However, there was something else that deemed itself even more important. It was slinking about, to his unknowing, honing in on it's delectable target. Destry wouldn't have noticed a thing if the basilisk hadn't scooted the bowl across the table. Thinking it was another person arriving to try and Impress, the candidate happily turned to greet them. But there was nothing in his field of vision. Confused, he looked down - and what was this? A little creature was nabbing some food! At first, he wanted to call it a dragonet. But as he looked closer, he realized it was something far more rare.
Basilisk! He could have, yet again, squealed at the event before him. Even though the beings had caused terror and heartache throughout the Weyr, it was only natural that Destry be attracted to them. A new marvelous thing to study and swoon over; the opportunity couldn't have been more perfect. Not wanting to give the location of the dark blueish-purple beauty away, he merely watched, wishing he could go up and touch it. Her hide must feel smoother than water itself!

Luna greeted the others that had come to grab a bowl of meat before listening to Shea. Just as he was finishing speaking one of the eggs began to crack. She watched in wonder as the firelizard broke free of his shell. She was surprised when the hatchling knocked into two of the other eggs and cracked them.
Luna was then looking over his strange hide when one of the eggs burst open, sending the dark blue hatchling flying high up in the air. She Kept her gaze on the big winged blue, worried it might get hurt. Just then it turned and dived right into the bowl of meat she was holding. She nearly dropped it from the sudden weight but held on. Luna looked down to see the big winged blue crooning up at her.
It took Shea congratulating her for her to understand she had just impressed to the blue hatchling "O-oh, thanks Shea." The dark blue flitter continued to eat the meat in the bowl until it was all gone. He then climbed up onto Luna's shoulder and wrapped his tail and his large wings around her. He nuzzled her cheek as he continued to croon. Luna let out a laugh before petting him. "Hmm, I think I'll call you Draco." Draco continued to rub his had against her until her heard a sound behind him.
He hissed at the strange creature for getting to close to his human. He was the only one who touch her. Luna turned to see what Draco was hissing at and spotted Dusk eating from one of the bowls of meat. Luna tried to keep her voice as low as possible as she whispered to the Basilisk. "Dusk, what are you doing! Those aren't for you!" Draco just continued to eye Dusk, he didn't want her to come closer to His.

Tighearnan peered over the backs of the people who were slightly bent over to watch the clutch. He could hear a firelizard peeping and thought he could even make out the faint cracking sound. So the eggs were actually hatching then! He couldn't see though, with everyone else crowded around, and that bothered him a bit. Well, maybe if he had paid a little more attention and known beforehand, he might have been able to get a good view. Then again, he didn't much like the thought of people pressing in on him as they tried to see, too. No, it was much better to be on the edge where he still had space to move around if necessary.
The sound of screeching drew his attention again and made him a little jealous of those who could actually see. Tighearnan wasn't completely without curiosity and he would have loved to actually see the firelizards hatching. Maybe when people started to Impress, they would move out of the way so he could get in a little closer. He then saw a deep blue take to the open air, eyes swirling red in hunger, though with the glances he was throwing at the remaining clutch, Tighear would have sworn there was not a little touch of anger in there too. The blue circled for a moment and then dove straight into the bowl of one of the other people and he found a soft smile curling the corners of his mouth.
Tighearnan heard someone speaking and it was then that he caught the name of the clutch mother. Dawn? That was the WeyrHeader's queen! This was her clutch? Now he felt twice as stupid for not knowing the hatching was happening. He'd known she was egg-heavy for awhile now, being a beastcrafter himself and working quite closely with Shea. As if his thoughts alone drew his attention, the WeyrHeader called out to him. He straightened considerably at being addressed by his superior and started to answer, only to have to clear his throat when he started with a bit of a croak. "She is doing well now. I cleaned out her stall and made her comfortable. I plan on checking on her again tonight," he said in a faint voice, aware that the attention of the others would undoubtedly be on him.
He could feel the eyes of one boy boring into him and it made him feel fidgety and nervous. He began to tap his fingers on his leg in an attempt to dispel some of those jitters, but it didn't make it any better. Little did he know what was going on behind him, or he really would have been jittery. When he heard the tiny blue firelizard hissing, though, he got the impression that something wasn't right. He finally looked behind him and took several hurried steps away from the counter where the bowls of meat were. It was one of the basilisks! That purple one! The fact that she was so close to him and he hadn't even known it was more than a little frightening for him. He couldn't speak, couldn't shoo her away, he could just stare at her. What if she had tried to hurt him? He wouldn't have known it until her claws were deep into his back!

Surel watched as midnight blue flit broke his shell and took to the air. This was so exciting! The curiosity of what color would be next and the thrill one might choose him. A great adventure and the adrenaline ride he loved all mixed into one. The Candidate grinned and bounced on his toes, the first one may have chosen someone else but he was sure he’d get his turn.
Surel glanced at the people around him. He hadn’t been at the Weyr long, having just been searched and all, so he was still learning faces and names. So the blue had chosen Luna? And the queen, Dawn, looked to Shea? The man looked slightly familiar and Surel cocked his head to the side. That was it! He’d seen Shea out in the Weyrbowl right after he’d been Searched. Still high off of the thrill of riding a dragon for the first time, the Candidate hadn’t remembered him. He recognized a few other Candidates he didn’t know by name. They were all waiting for the same glorious thing.
The sudden screeching and hissing of a flit, had him trying to peer through his mess of hair to see the cause. The newly hatched blue flit was mad at something, but since he was near the front, Surel couldn’t see what it was mad at. There was a glimpse of purple. Some ladies clothing? A slipper perhaps? Another Flit hatchling? Shards he couldn’t tell! Not even when he stood on his tip toes and peered around peoples big heads!

Shea leaned back against the wall, glad that the mare wasn't getting worse. "Good, good. I'll come with you tonight when this is all over. I'd like to see her again," he added. It wasn't the whole truth, he's also like to check that the mare hadn't gotten worse and that the candidate had missed it, but he doubted that that would have happened. Still, if the mare had gotten worse, the owner would come to him and probably wouldn't be pleased. Always bette to double check. Then he refocussed on Tighearnan, realising that he was looking away from him, behind to where Luna was ow standing. No, crouching. Oh, Dusk was there. That was what Tighearnan was looking at then! "Don't worry about Dusk, Tighearnan, she won't hurt you," he said, sounding sure of himself. Well, the truth was that he was pretty sure, around 99% sure, but that was good enough, right? The pastel green was unperturbed by the explosion of her fellow egg. Neither was she bothered by her brother blue leaving. No, she was quite happy gazing around in wonder. So much space! What was she supposed to do with it all? But the flitt who'd burst from it's shell a moment before, a deep forest coloured green, looked altogether less enthusiastic about her newfound freedom. What was this... goop she was covered in? It was disgusting! Oh and the sand was sticking to it as well! This just wouldn't do. And what was that little pipsqueak looking at her like that for?! The affront was clear on the second green's face as the pastel stared at her. Just, stared. And her head was still upside down. The darker green snorted at her, which elicited a bum wriggle from the pastel. What was this? This one had feet like she did. Maybe she would like to play with her? Oh but-ooh! Who were they? Oh there were people behind her! Maybe they would play with her! Excited by this prospect the green struggled to get up, upside down as she was. But for all she tried, she only managed to tangle herself around her wings all the more, thrashing around the sand and scooting between the eggs, knocking several of them for six. None cracked open immediately, though the disturbance set several of them into a furious shaking. That is, until a leg burst from the side of an egg, clutching at the sand below it and tripping up the frantically flailing pastel, righting her with a flump of wings, legs and tail. She stopped, surprised, looking around to the leg poking from the egg behind her. Ooh, that's what she'd been doing just now! It wasn't very fun. She wondered if this flitt would prefer the openness like she had. Well, he should! Playfully, she reached out a pale arm, poking said egg on it's side. It jerked, and she poked it again. Ooh, she liked this game. Crouching head down, tail up, her back end wiggled as she readied herself and then, when the egg paused in it's shaking, pounced. As she landed the shell shattered and the two hatchlings rolled away in a bigger tangle of wings tail and legs than earlier, before falling apart as they crashed into one of the bigger eggs of the clutch. Now, anyone who'd been watching this in fascination would by now have realised that there was something wrong with this new hatchling. Specifically with it's colour. Initially, some may have thought it was a brown, and it was about the right size. But not many browns are reddish-pink. The green, of course, was unfazed by this, and after separating from her clutch sibling, bounded off around the sands, taking to the air as she neared the humans. She knew what she needed now, and the humans would give it to her! But, oh, hang on, there were so many to choose from! Oh, there was the food. She winged her way over to the table, landing rather less than gracefully on the table next to Dusk, but managing to at least keep on her feet. Peering into the bowl that Dusk was eating from, she decided that it was probably better not to steal from the creature, but that she needed one of those bowls with nice stuff in them. Someone would surely get her one. She glanced around, finally fixing her gaze on Destry, chirping inquiringly at him. Would he get her a bowl? i745.photobucket.com/albums/xx95/Blanch_182/Pixels/Rieth7339320865-iaza.gifColour: Green (8CDD81) Impressed to: Destry Appearance: Pale, dusty jade in colour, this green is not what you’d call the largest of the clutch. In fact, she’s one of the smallest to have hatched at Skyline. But look at her properly and you’ll see she’s more like a queen scaled down, just not made up of muscle. Unlike most greens, she’s not whiplike but pudgy, with soft round curves and short legs. This is not for lack of exercise, however, for she’s an active little critter, flittering around Destry’s head like a mini tornado, collecting little bits and pieces that catch her eye. Personality: She’s a curious little thing too, loving to stick her nose into where it’s not welcome. But unlike some, if whomever’s business she’s poking into takes displeasure at it, she won’t flee. In fact, she’ll just sit there staring at you for a disturbingly long time, leading many to believe that she’s slightly retarded. These suspicions are usually confirmed when she rolls onto her back and demands a tummy scratch from whomever’s angry with her, often with her tongue hanging from her mouth. She’s dumb and extremely forgetful, but a complete sweetheart otherwise (as long as they don’t steal her shinies). She just needs someone to love her.

Luna tried to calm down Draco as he continued to hiss at Dusk. "Draco, it's ok. Dusk is a friend." Luna looked back at Dusk and let out a sigh. "Dusk, what are you doing here. Shouldn't you be with R'fel right now?" Luna moved over toward the basilisk. Draco had stopped hissing when His had asked him too, but he still didn't trust the creature. It would have to prove itself worthy to be Luna's friend. He wrapped himself even more so around Luna. He didn't want anyone else to have her but him.

Theo stared blankly ahead as she walked to the Kitchens. The healers had told her she needed to get some fresh air. Theo really didn't care. She looked down at the bandage still on her left forearm. Ever since Korath went between Theo had been like this. She simply didn't care. She gave a start when she heard the blue dragon's voice. Her eyes clouded over slightly as she thought of her dead dragon. She shook her head to rid her thoughts of Korath and continued to the kitchens. She didn't see the first three hatch nor did she see Dusk. She just walked up behind everyone and gazed blankly at the eggs.
(no greens for Theo. She couldn't handle it so soon after losing Korath)

Destry arched a brow as he watched the green flaunt around the sands, curiously prodding and tackling various eggs until another one of them broke. She sure was a jokester eh? Grappling and sparring with her oddly-colored brother as soon as she was out of the shell. What a darling entrance into this world! Her cute displays were so hard to look away from, even though he wanted to try and get a good look at the funny colored hatchling and other green beside her. Then, it seemed the green grew uninterested with playing. Her pale body darted into the air, making a few circles right before she landed on the wooden table behind him.
Ah, I can't help it! I've gotta turn and watch. Looks at her tail wagglin' back and forth! he thought, eagerly twisting his body around. Rapid blinks followed the movement as he realized the flitter was face-to-face with the basilisk! A sheepish grin wriggled on his features as he watched the curious creature sniff Dusk's bowl and then turn around, staring at him intently. Oh...wait! Him? Destry jostled the bowl in his hand a little, shuffling the meat around inside. "Y'can have some if you want." The green didn't really need any encouragement after he offered. Food, he was giving her just what she'd wanted! With a croon she scrabbled across the table and hopped up onto the cusp of the bowl, diving head first into the meat.
"Aiyee!" Destry chirped, his voice accidentally somewhat mimicking the little green's. Faranth, she was the tiniest, cutest thing he'd ever seen! The firelizard glanced up, head tilting to the side and flicking red droplets on the candidate's shirt as she licked her jowls. "Keeee?" Destry blinked. He'd never heard a firelizard say something like that. The baby flit blinked right back, then decided it was time to give her tummy some more attention. Despite her small size, she had the appetite of a herdbeast! He watched her, chuckling when she'd burrow her wedge-shaped head under the various chunks of meat to find the best pickings.
He could have stood there for an eternity and still been entertained by his new friend. But there was something missing... "You need a name. I can't just call you green all the time." Finally full, the flit nudged the crick of his arm and curled up, creating a small dip in his body by clawing lightly at his shirt. "Kee." The man thought about it for a moment. Kee was cute, but it just wasn't right. He lifted a finger and stroked the bridge of her nose, tickling her exposed belly. Oh, that was nice. She enjoyed that very much! This human would be just as fun as her brother and sister were, if not more fun! Her shade of green was very soft and easy on the eyes, and her body was a little short, like her mother's in a way. Playing with one of her paws, an idea struck him. "How about Tassel? You're just as soft, and as fun to play with too."
The firelizard chirped as soon as the word came out of his mouth, squirming out of his arm to climb up his neck and sit on top of his head. Well, that was easy enough. Destry continued to stand there, eventually folding his arms as she surveyed the area. She could see for so far up there... and his hair was fun to tangle and snare in her little claws. Tassel stretched out her head and keened at the remaining green and reddish-pink male on the sands, teasing them. She had the best sitting place in this big room! They couldn't take it from her! Up and down her head bobbed as she continued to peep and croon at her clutchsiblings, wondering if they'd take her dare. Destry didn't mind waiting around for Tassel to finish playing. It's not like he was going to Impress again - twas only because it would make his little Tassel happy.

As Dusk snapped up some of the pieces of meat with glee, she became aware of a pair of eyes on her. Raising her snout as she licked some of the blood from the sides of her lips, Dusk met Destry's gaze equally. Finally! Someone who didn't freak out the moment that they ever caught half a glance of her. Someone who wasn't so paranoid a shifting shadow became a foul evil basilisk about to launch a sneaky behind attack. This did not of course, mean that Dusk liked this person. It took a lot to get Dusk to like you. It did however, mean she didn't end up grumpy like she normally did when people falsely accused her of being a savage killing machine. She could be that, if they wanted. Then they would see how misguided they were. Unfortunately, that wasn't going to be the best of ideas. They probably wouldn't get that she had been merely demonstrating a point that she wasn't. Bleh, there was no winning with these people.
Soon though, she broke off her eye contact with Destry to shove her nose back into the bowl and snap up a little more food. These were excellent snack sized portions! She thought she heard that girl's voice, the one who'd helped, but wasn't too bothered. Until she heard the hissing, and then her name being spoken in Luna's voice. Looking up again, she was slightly irritated that she'd been interrupted. What was she doing? Errr, eating? What else? Then Luna tried to deny her her snack. I'm sorry, did she look like she cared if they were for her or not? They weren't claimed by anyone, so they quite clearly were up for grabs. Simple. The basilisk gave Luna the blink, then promptly ignored her and the hissing thing on her shoulder. Little cousins. Apparently they were annoying.
Scoffing the last little bits of meat in the bowl and then running her grey green tongue around the edges to make sure she'd gotten every last little morsel, Dusk licked her chops and blinked happily. Yes, that had been tasty. She'd not have another though. That would be a little much for now, and she needed to stay awake so that she could go back to R'fel. She quickly checked on him, to find that he was awake but resting quietly. Well she'd leave him for the moment then. Wasn't that much going on here now was there? Oh look, someone who was scared had spotted her, and was backing up. And staring at her. So Dusk stared back, flickers of red irritation just beginning to circle her eyes. She was not scary! Why did everyone treat her as if she were about to rip their throats out?! She considered hissing or snarling at him at him, even if just to prove Shea wrong. She could hurt him if she wanted to. She didn't though, and refrained from hissing or snarling, and instead just kept staring back. It was Dusk who broke the stare though, when the little green thing landed beside her. Her bi-coloured head turned to look at it, and saw the green peering into the bowl she'd emptied not long ago at all. Go find your own, was her expression. Which the little green did. Sensible. And not scared of her like these silly people!
Luna was coming over now, asking what she was doing here. Well now she was contemplating what to do, but she'd come here to find out what little cousins were, and then decided to have a snack when she realised they were the boring often hissy things. One of which was no attached to Luna's shoulder. She shook herself a little and blinked at Luna, her eyes having faded back to quiet blue green shades. She gave her muzzle another lick just to be sure she'd got every last trace of blood, then decided she'd speak to Luna. Came see what little cousins were. Find out boring. Hungry, so had food. Should she be with R'fel right now? Maybe, but not urgently. R'fel resting, no need Dusk. Dusk go back soon. She yawned widely again. She was still young, so eating always made her a little drowsy.
